GETTING STARTED
Your doctor will design a customized treatment plan for you and send it to the laboratory for manufacturing. Impressions of your mouth are digitized and 3D models of your treatment sequence are created. A series of removable clear plastic aligner trays are custom-made and fit to the molds of your teeth. These aligners are worn on your teeth to gradually apply light pressure and slowly straighten your teeth and improve your smile.
CONSULTATION
Talk to your dentist about Clearline and if treatment is right for you. Most patients can benefit from clear aligner orthodontics, but some cases still require “fixed braces” or may not be a candidate at all.
RECORDS
Impressions, x-rays, and photographs will be taken of your teeth and act as the foundation of your treatment plan and appliance fabrication.
MANUFACTURING
Your case will be sent to the laboratory for manufacturing. A series of treatment models are produced and corresponding clear plastic aligner trays are hand-crafted just for you.
THE TREATMENT
Your dentist will fit the aligners to your teeth and monitor progress throughout treatment. Aligners are worn 22 hours per day and removed only for eating and brushing. Each stage of treatment consists of a series of up to 6 aligners to be used for a period of 2 weeks each (each tray is numbered in order and marked with a U for upper and an L for lower teeth). There may be as many as 4 stages of treatment (each stage is color-coded). Treatment time can take 6-18 months.
During treatment, it may be required that your dentist reduce the enamel in-between your crowded teeth to make room for straightening. As well, several small tooth-colored attachments may need to be cemented to your teeth temporarily to act as tooth-handles for anchorage to aid in tooth movement.
At the end of active treatment, your dentist will order retainers from the laboratory. Retainers are appliances that are designed to hold and maintain your beautiful smile!

How long does the treatment take?
Every case is unique. Treatment may take anywhere from 6 to 18 months.
Do I need to wear a retainer after the treatment?
Your dentist will recommend a retainer after the treatment, to avoid any relapse. Clearline offers three types of retainers, CLEARLINE Retainer, V-LOOP Retainer, and CLEARBOW Retainer
